Sesame Networks Inc. provides Wi-Fi mobility solutions for enterprises
that are low cost, secure, and traceable. Sesame's patent pending identity
management process enables quick and easy access to services through a
Wi-Fi Internet connection. Sesame provides end users with a single Sesame
password valid at any Sesame enabled enterprise, also known as a SesameSpot,
throughout the world. Sesame Networks provides a large Wi-Fi coverage
area or footprint to end users from the aggregation of enterprise SesameSpots.
Is Sesame Networks prepared to handle
the anticipated explosive growth in wireless services?
Yes. Sesame Networks has a complete services support and delivery infrastructure
in place and is ready to scale with market demand.
What is a SesameSpot?
A SesameSpot is a location where you can get access to the Internet and
additional services using your Sesame ID.
What is a Sesame Access Point?
A Sesame Access Point allows you to connect to the Internet with your
wireless equipment after authentication.
What do I need to access a SesameSpot?
All you need is a Wi-Fi enabled notebook and a mobile phone with SMS capabilities.
How does Sesame's Courtesy Wi-Fi Internet
Access solution work?
Upon opening a browser on a Wi-Fi enabled device, the guest enters their
mobile phone number and Sesame password to gain access to the Internet.
If the guest is at a SesameSpot for the first time, they leave the password
blank and then click on “Get Password”, one will be sent to
the mobile phone via short message service (SMS or text messaging).
Is every cell phone supported?
All digital cell phones are supported, since these can receive SMS messages.
Analog cell phones are not supported.
Is every cellular service provider supported?
Every cellular service provider that offers SMS messaging is supported.
Is there a limit on access duration?
A user session is typically one hour. Some SesameSpot hosts may offer
shorter or longer time limits.
Is there a limit on the size of files
that can be sent and received?
No.
What is a typical coverage area?
The coverage area is determined by the SesameSpot enterprise host.
How many users can simultaneously access
the wireless network?
The Ultra-Lite version of the Sesame Access Manager allows 50 simultaneous
user connections. The campus version scales up to many hundreds of simultaneous
connections.
How many users can be using the service
concurrently with the same login ID and password?
For security reasons, only one user may be logged in at any one time with
the same ID.
How fast is the network?
If you are connected using the 802.11b protocol, your connection can be
up to 11Mbps, if you are using the 802.11g protocol, your connection can
go up to 54Mbps. This is dependant upon the signal strength and your distance
to the Wi-Fi Access Point. It should be noted that the wireless portion
is generally not the bottleneck for speed: the Internet connection is
and this is determined by the connection coming into the site..
